Sate Babi Bawah Pohon

If there's only one destination for foodies to visit in Bali, it'd be Sate Babi Bawah Pohon (literally translated to 'pork satay under the tree'). Sate Bawah Pohon has been around since forever. It started with a lady that sold some pork satay under the tree.

The satay became super famous that she started to open a stall with a few tables. Soon after, the number of tables increase and the queue grew longer. I always visited them early in the morning to beat the line. These days, more stalls opened in different cities and locations in Bali.

My favourite one was still the original stall at Legian. A lot of Indonesian people were known to take away some pork satay to eat on the plane or hotel and even brought some back to their home cities. At the stall, you could see how the staff grilled all pork satays in bulk.

The pork satay was juicy and tender. It was marinated so well with a right combination of sweet and savoury flavour. You can choose between rice or rice cakes. If you want to eat more, I suggest you go with rice cakes. The seller usually provides a chilli and some sea salt on the side. Be careful not to mix too much salt with your pork satay.

Must go!

If you never tried this place before, I suggest you slide it into your Bali itinerary. If you had, then I know you'll go back to eat there again when you visit Bali next time.
