I Like Sun BBQ's Boneless Chicken!

After three dinners at Sun BBQ previously, our group of friends knew for sure that we would have another gathering there sometime in the future. If not for the sweet chili chicken then it would be for the honey chicken or the creamy carbonara chicken. Whatever the dish we were positive that it would be delectable as long as we went for the boneless option.  I usually lost count of the number of daikon cubes and chickens that I demolished during dinner.

Chicken Carbonara - Boneless

Cikiiiinnn!

When I first saw the photo of the chicken dishes on their menu, I thought the serving size of chicken looked really small and the price didn’t justify it. Then the first plate of chicken arrived followed by another plate and our long table suddenly looked really crowded.

Before I knew it, I kept on taking one chicken after another and it was downright chicken addiction for me. I’d order one portion to take home if there was a takeaway bucket for the chicken.

The chicken platters are best to be shared in a group due to the large portions. Our meals usually come with sets of plastic gloves (yay for clean hands), cutleries and small plates.

The service was good and the staff was friendly. Most of the time it was easier to help ourselves to the free water rather than asking for one, maybe because we were quite familiar with the place as well. To make the place extra casual, there was a big LCD screen that showed the latest K-pop music videos.

Sun BBQ is located at the corner of William and Newcastle St, on the same building that previously housed Hana BBQ. The first floor of SUN BBQ is still used as a Korean BBQ restaurant while the ground floor cater customers who are looking for the goodness of Chimek (chicken and beer). They make it easy for customers to sit on the black drum that also doubled as a bag storage when the cushion is lifted.

Combination platter of honey, sweet chili and original fried chicken!

The winning chicken dish was the sweet chili chicken that we constantly ordered in the past. For the adventurous eater, there’s an option to try the spicy chicken dish which can be quite hot when your chili intake level is quite low. If you’re not sure of what to get, there’s also a platter of chicken that come in three different flavours (sweet chili, garlic and original fried chicken).
