Morning Dim Sum at Ping Pang Pong
I was so happy when I stumbled upon Ping Pang Pong’s dimsum photos on Instagram for the very first time. Pauline the owner of the restaurant, turns out to be the sister of the Mouthful Duck’s owner. She was the one who informed us about the opening of the Mouthful Duck in Ellenbrook.
Ping Pang Pong serves Hong Kong style dim sum and drinks including popular favourites, such as PPP Lemon Tea and PPP Milk Tea. Everything in the restaurant is house-made including the really cute mini mantou buns, dumpling skin and the sauce.
Just like Chapas at Beautort St, Ping Pang Pong also offers crispy and steamed dumpling platters which can feed about 2-3 people.
One of the most enjoyable dishes was the mini mantou buns that has enough fluffiness and crispiness on the outside. We really liked this dipped into the sweet condensed milk that was provided.
The crispy and golden looking squid tentacles was a bit of a flop in the taste due to unevenness of salt. Even though it was really crispy, a few were very salty and was quite hard to finish.
Ping Pang Pong excels in their dumplings especially through their very juicy XLB (Xiao Long Bao). The dumpling skin has perfect and it was very easy to pick it up using chopsticks. Other dishes that we ordered were the tender pork belly buns and chive & prawn dumplings.
In the future, Pauline is planning to display more artworks to support WA artists as well as introducing WA local bands to customers through live music performances. I imagine this place can be quite lively during the weekend especially with customers who are looking for fresh dim sum offerings around the area.
