Breakfast at Asado BBQ Claremont

Whenever Hubby and I celebrate our birthdays, we usually divide the celebration into two. The first one was strictly for family members only, while the second one was strictly for friends. On this occasion, we settled for a family brunch at Asado in Claremont especially since I’ve been wanting to try their steak for quite some time.

We arrived five minutes earlier than our booked time although both of my cousins were already there ahead of time! Then I remembered that I sent out a calendar appointment with a start time 15 minutes earlier than the booked time (heheh…). The staff provided the best table in the house which was a communal table located at the back of the outdoor area. It was a beautiful table with a backdrop of hanging plants, also within proximity to the water jars and other condiments.

Asado Iced Tea (back), Iced Mocha (L) and Iced Chocolate (R)

My cousin Erik ordered the Asado Iced Tea after the friendly staff explained that it was a special house-made iced tea mixed with orange and lemon, which was followed directly by Hubby. The iced tea was very normal unfortunately and close to being too bland, we weren’t sure if it wasn’t mixed properly by the staff member or not. I opted for the coconut water with chocolate which ended up tasting a bit like chocolate milk.

Perfect #yolkporn right there!

The first ordered dish that arrived was the chili eggs. This was a combination of perfectly cooked slow eggs, rocket, feta, avocado and sourdough. I added the delicious house sausage which cost extra $5 to the meal.

Most of our guests elected the meatiest dish in the menu which was the rump steak topped with chimichurri that was served with fried egg & hand-cup chips. I love the medium rare steak so much – although there were mixed feelings among us regarding the steak. All the steaks weren’t consistent in how they were cooked compared to what was ordered. While this isn’t uncommon at a number of places offering steak, Hubby didn’t seem to mind his steak and I hope it was just down to it being a busy day.

My cousin Pia tried the mushroom croquette and judging from the size this dish can also be used as an excellent side dish. I stole one of her croquettes and it was really delicious especially with the creamy centered enveloped in crispy skin.

Asado didn’t disappoint especially with great service and the beautiful outdoor seating. I will come back again next time to try their house-made Sangria and the lunch menu!
