Breakfast at The Left Bank (Invited)

Last Sunday the weather wasn’t very friendly and the sound of rain and hail woke us up around 6AM in the morning. We had a breakfast appointment at 8:30AM so we wished that the rain would go away really soon. Around 8 it was clearing up a little bit with light drizzle here and there but it poured quite heavily again as soon as we stepped into the Left Bank Bar & Café in Fremantle.

The special occasion was the unveiling of the new fresh, hearty and colourful breakfast menu at The Left Bank, created by Chef Graham Woodcock. The Left Bank itself is located across the Swan River and you can get a good view with your breakfast when the weather is right.

Fluffy Spiced Pumpkin Pancakes

All the driving in the middle of the rain was worth it when I tried the fluffy Spiced Pumpkin Pancakes. This dish was served together with generous amount of orange curd which gives the freshness to the pancake as well as crushed walnuts. A few days before our breakfast I told John from PPR that the spiced pumpkin sounds really delicious, that was the day when I set my heart to try it (hahaha).

House-Style Smokey Boston Baked beans was very delicious as well especially when I put the bacon, tomato and poached eggs on top of the panini. It was very hearty and satisfying for any windy Sunday and for $15 it was a steal! Talking about panini, the breakfast panini with salami, roast peppers, mozzarella and crushed avocado was savoury and filling.

(L) The big breakfast was very filling! (R) French Toast

The big breakfast came with potato tortilla which was so yummy with the right level of crispiness on the outside. The potato tortilla also available as an add-on to any of the breakfast dish. Other than the potato tortilla, we were served with two beautiful looking fried eggs, chorizo, grilled tomato, bacon and toasted Italian bread.

The Left Bank can’t be categorised as a "new & hip" restaurant but as Freo’s longest running riverside pub they serve delicious breakfast under $20, in a casual setting that can be enjoyed by anyone.
