Old Chang Kee, Waterford Plaza
Old Chang Kee is a famous brand name in Singapore and can be easily found at various shopping centres. The mention of the name always took me back to the image of their yellow stalls and piping hot curry puffs. I first visited the Old Chang Kee shop at Waterford Plaza a few years ago and I remembered how happy I was when I saw the shop.
Fast forward to 2017, Old Chang Kee expanded their stalls to include a long table and some high chairs so customers can enjoy their food easily at the premise. They also installed really cool vintage letters that spelled our their brand on the wall.
Behind the glass counter you can see rows of seafood snacks on a stick such as fish balls, calamari, the delicious crab nuggets and prawn nuggets. My favourite was still the crab nugget and their crab claw. They breaded both really well that I didn't want to share my crab nugget stick with other people...
Old Chang Kee Perth has three different flavours for their curry puffs. The first one was the original potato curry puff that I really liked, then the mushroom chicken and the last one was their latest creation: chicken cheesy curry puff. Don't worry if you purchase multiple curry puffs, the staff will mix it in the takeaway box because each flavour will have different colour dots on it.
The staff mentioned to us that the QC (Quality Controller) from the Singapore HQ actually visited the shop in Perth to ensure that every food that they sell will taste the same as it was in Singapore.
If you're looking for a quick lunch option, they sell some great lunch box deals for under $7. Their dry chicken curry was really fragrant and delicious. It had enough spiciness to it and I really liked their normal curry chicken too.
Old Chang Kee is located across Gloria Jeans and Coles at Waterford Plaza. A lot of parking spaces can be found nearby and if you're a student at Curtin University, it's only a quick 5 minutes drive to the Waterford Plaza.
