Cafe Leadman (Degustation)

I found Cafe Leadman through Instagram one afternoon. One of the dishes caught my eyes; it was the Mi Goreng with truffle oil, shiitake mushrooms and sous-vide egg. I checked their website to learn more about them and discovered their $55 degustation. $55 is an excellent price for degustation that covers 4 meals, 1 dessert and non-alcoholic drink pairing.

I booked a date night with Andrew and raved to him about this cafe with $6.50 Mi Goreng in their breakfast menu. I couldn't wait to visit Cafe Leadman! On the day of the booking, one of the owners, Dan, called me to confirm my reservation and checked if there was anything that we couldn't eat. I told him that Andrew and I are not big fans of beetroot, but we're not a fussy eater.

Cafe Leadman turned out to be a small and cozy cafe with a great song playlist. Dan and another Dan greeted us and offered to make us a cup of coffee. There was another group that was there on the same night.

The concept behind the degustation dinner is for the customers to feel at home. Dan wanted to keep it simple, and he even mentioned that he didn't want too many people to find out about them. But, good news needs to be shared with many people.

I was in awe of the first course, right through the end. I won't put down too many details here because Cafe Leadman will be most likely serve different degustation meals during separate seatings. One of my favourite dishes, other than Mi Goreng that Dan specially made for us, was the Laksa Noodle with sous-vide lamb.

Spot the 'threeonesix' tins!

The degustation at Cafe Leadman was really exciting for Andrew and me. Both Dans were really hospitable and kindly answered many questions that we had on the night. My query led me to discover a tea company called 'threeonesix' that I'll write about in a separate post. We can't wait to go back and have another date night at Cafe Leadman or even go there for brunch.
