D's Authentic Japanese

D's Authentic Japanese is headed by Chef Koji Harada, who loves to create beautiful and delicious Japanese food for his customers. I chose D's for my birthday dinner venue. I thought it was a good excuse especially since my family members had been dying to try D's for a very long time.

For people who live North of the River (NOR), D's Authentic Japanese is a perfect option for great Japanese food. For those who live elsewhere, I'd consider that you make a trip there at least once to try the food. We weren't disappointed at all.

We started with some Coffin Bay Oysters to share, a bowl of lotus chips, sashimi and tempura. Everything was delicious, and we regretted not getting a second bowl of lotus chips. Those dishes were enough entree for 5 people.

D's has three different choices for assorted sashimi, starting with bronze which is 10 pieces, silver/20 pieces and gold or 30 pieces. We chose the silver one which costs $40.

For our main, we ordered different dishes, but everyone ended up sharing with one another. Pia opted for Saikyo-yaki, grilled black cod in Miso style.

Andoo opted for Wagyu no tataki/steak which was cooked so well. The beef slices were seared rare and served together with fried onion, garlic, ponzu sauce and salad. Erik chose the stir-fried wagyu dish which was also beautiful, but most of us preferred the wagyu steak.

I went for the special of the day with was a duck dish. The rare duck was served together with vegetables and lightly seared. Everyone tried my dish and they were impressed with the tender meat.

Erlin's Shabu-Shabu was tasty and excellent if you're looking for something mild in flavour. The wagyu beef was thinly sliced, served together with silky tofu, soft boiled egg, and vegetables in sweet soy broth.

D's have different desserts that they rotated in the menu. I received my cute cake on a plate with birthday decoration. It was so thoughtful of them to do that.

We really enjoyed everything at D's and we're planning to go back for another special occasion. The pricing is on the higher end of the spectrum, but undoubtedly can be justified with the lovely presentation and excellent quality food that we ate.
