One Eyed Jack, Canggu

One Eyed Jack is located at the heart of Canggu, another popular area in Bali that's really famous with tourists. The first thing that I liked from One Eyed Jack is the decoration and warm atmosphere that was brought by hanging bamboo lanterns. The substantial golden koi mural was a perfect backdrop for the place. Black frames and red lights that were hanging on the outside will positively remind you of eateries in Japan.

As a Japanese Izakaya and sake bar, One Eyed Jack dining style is similar to tapas where dishes were served on small plates for sharing. Their menus are divided into raw, tacos, bites, bao, yakitori (skewers), rice and noodle bowls, and small plates.

The meal at One Eyed Jack was designed by Chef Rapha Menchaca who used to work at Nobu NY and California. Naturally, I had to order the Miso Black Cod, which was delightful. Wagyu Tataki was another delicious dish, a must order when you visit this restaurant.

I was looking forward to eating some of Temari Sushi, but unfortunately, the flavour was a bit lacking on the night. Unagi-gobo was my favourite out of all five.

One Eyed Jack is definitely not shy with their drink menu, and I was super happy when I found the list of Chuhai and Sake. Along with those two, there were also a few Japanese whiskeys, digestif, a couple of beers, and a long list of cocktails available.

The fantastic thing about Bali is the abundance of restaurants that are available there. One Eyed Jack is a great place to go if you crave delicious Japanese dishes, Japanese inspired cocktails, and sake. Staff were friendly and helpful, and you're guaranteed to enjoy the warm and beautiful atmosphere of the Izakaya.
