Stay, Sip, Indulge: An In-Depth Look at Our Staycation at COMO The Treasury

If you’re craving a luxurious staycation right in the heart of Perth, COMO The Treasury ticks every single box, and then folds your robe and leaves a treat on your bed 💅✨ From award-winning stays to rooftop fine dining, it’s no wonder this iconic hotel continues to rake in the accolades.

Located in Cathedral Square, COMO The Treasury has been crowned:

  • #1 Best Hotel in Australia and New Zealand (Condé Nast Traveler, 2016)

  • Best City Hotel in ANZ (Travel + Leisure, 2020)

  • And honestly? I’d add "Best Place to Feel Like a Fancy Princess in Slippers” 👸

Let’s dive into the dreamy details of our COMO weekend…

🚗 Valet Parking & Check-In Vibes

Pulling in from St George’s Terrace, we were greeted by the lovely valet team. Parking was $25 for 4 hours or $50 for the full day, super convenient if you’re staying or dining at the State Buildings. And yes, the whole precinct is licensed... so feel free to roam with a wine glass in hand 😏🍷

🛏️ Heritage Room – Spacious, Light-Filled & Thoughtful

We stayed in the Heritage Room, a stunning 60sqm space with floor-to-ceiling windows and views over Cathedral Square. Highlights?

  • Heated bathroom floors (YES, please)

  • Complimentary in-room bar stocked and restocked daily 🥂

  • Como Shambhala bath amenities that smell like a spa retreat

  • Plush robes, a full-size bathtub with salts, and turn-down service with daily surprises 😭🍫

The bathtub came with a generous jar of bath salts, and the Como Shambhala amenities smelled like a day spa in a bottle. Yes, I took the lotion home. No, I’m not sorry 🧴🛀

Turn-down service? Adorable. One night it was a short story, another night—chocolates from Sue Lewis. This hotel is out here, feeding your soul and your sweet tooth.

🍽️ Dining at Wildflower – Elevated, Elegant & So Worth It

For dinner, we headed to Wildflower, the fine dining restaurant on the top floor. We ended up going with the 6-course tasting menu ($180), and let me just say, chef’s kiss. Every plate looked like art and tasted even better.

They also do vegetarian options that are just as beautifully plated. And don’t sleep on the cocktail list, each drink incorporates native Australian botanicals, and I’m still thinking about the Sandalwood Espresso 😮‍💨🍸

The service? Impeccable. We kept adjusting the booking (sorry!) and the staff handled it all with such grace. A true five-star experience from start to finish.

As for food, Head Chef designed a menu that made us wanting more. Each plate has a stunning presentation. Check out some of our dishes below. Wildflower also caters for Vegetarian, and each of the vegetarian plates came out as beautiful too!

🍳 Como Post Breakfast – Room or Restaurant, It’s a Treat

On day two, we headed to Post for breakfast, which included:

  • Pastry basket 🥐

  • Choice of main

  • Juice + coffee

  • Freshly cut fruit

I had the Fontina and chive open omelette with sautéed mushrooms, rocket, and salsa verde, plus a side of baked beans and pork & sage chipolata. So spoiled 🥰

And on checkout day, my friend arranged for breakfast to be delivered to our room, a much-needed treat after being sore from the gym (okay, we haven’t worked out in a while 🤣).

Hot tip: just call the team and ask! They’ll happily set it up.

🍸 Poole’s Temple – A Hidden Late-Night Jazz Bar

Pool area at night - quiet!

Did you know Halford Bar rebranded into Poole’s Temple during the pandemic? Now, it’s a sultry jazz bar named after George Temple-Poole, with moody lighting, luxe cocktails, and a live band 🎷

If you’re staying at COMO, you can access it via a secret back entrance—it’s giving speakeasy realness 😈 My friend and I actually stumbled in by accident while looking for the pool (yes, we surprised a whole table of guests with our grand entrance 😂). Still iconic.

Update: Re-branded to Lola Underground.

💆🏻‍♀️ Como Shambhala Urban Escape – The Signature Massage

No COMO experience is complete without a spa treatment. We booked the 90-minute Signature COMO Shambhala Massage and I… fell asleep in 5 minutes. Relaxation? Achieved. There are four treatment rooms, but only one couple’s room, so book in advance if you want that relaxing and romantic spa moment 💞

🏋🏻‍♀️ Gym & Pool – Wellness, But Make It Chic

The gym is kitted out with Technogym equipment, and the pool stays open late (ask the staff for after-hours access). I did my workout while staring directly at McDonald's on Barrack Street, balance, right? 🤦‍♀️🍟

Gentle Folk Rainbow Juice, a blend of 23 red and white varieties

🛍️ State Buildings – Food, Florals & Artisan Finds

Part of the charm of staying here is exploring the State Buildings themselves:

It’s like staying in your own boutique retail village, with room service.
