Staycation at Intercontinental Perth
In December, we got a chance to staycay at Intercontinental Perth. I was super excited about it, especially since I was waiting for the hotel to open. Just a heads up, the hotel doesn't have any free parking available, so we parked our car at Wilson Central Park.
As we walked into the hotel, we saw the lounge on the left-hand side. It was a great place to hang around or waiting for our Uber to pick us up (haha). The check-in process was super smooth, and we were provided with two key cards.
I noticed the same decoration flows from the corridor all the way to the room. The yellow light gave warm vibes to the whole place. The hotel room has a couch that was great for my late night reading spot, a working desk as well as hidden drawers for kettles, coffee and tea set.
We went to Ascua for dinner. I will write a more detailed post on it. Our meals were scrumptious, especially the 40 days dry-aged tomahawk and wood-fired broccoli. I was impressed that they only seasoned the tomahawk steak with some sea salt. The meat was so juicy that it didn't need any additional sauce.
Andrew brought in his XBOX ONE and Nintendo Switch, and he quickly plugged both into the TV. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. The only thing that disrupted our sleep was the fire alarm. I was totally freaked out and thinking that we should pack all of our items back into the luggage. Fortunately, it was just a false alarm!
We went for breakfast at Ascua on our check-out day at Intercontinental. I like Ascua during the day, especially since the staff opened up all the big windows in the morning. The whole room felt very airy and super bright.
We saw a variety of bread, waffle, delicious caramelised banana, Danish pastries, cute jams on the table, options for Asian and Western food, and juices. One of the staff came with a tray with glasses of refreshing ginger and lime juice! They should put it permanently in the menu.
Intercontinental also has a bar and lounge on Level 1, called The Loft. I went there two nights in a row. The second night, I invited our good friends to check it out. They loved it! The Loft has an outdoor balcony and spacious indoor seating area. Again, the warm light was really inviting.
CK at The Loft looked after us really well. He made great cocktails and very friendly. We also tried heaps of cakes at The Loft, from the carrot cake, The Loft Signature Cake, as well as the layered chocolate cake. The cake and cocktail were really well-priced.
Our staycation felt really quick, but we enjoyed every moment of it. The room was comfortable, clean and cosy. The proximity to the CBD is beneficial especially with different options of shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back for another staycation at Intercontinental Perth one day!
