BWG Steakhouse, Applecross

We had an incredible birthday dinner for my father in law at the BWG Steakhouse last Sunday. Outdoor seating at the BWG Steakhouse was a winner especially because we arrived just before the sunset. The restaurant is divided into a private and function room section, two different indoor areas and outdoor.

I walked around the restaurant while waiting for the rest of the family members to arrive. The first area closest to the entrance had some wooden decorations on the wall as well as a fireplace. The whole setting will create a perfect dinner atmosphere for Christmas celebrations. The bar is also located in the same area, however you won’t really get a good view of the Swan River if you chose to sit around here.

The next room has a lot more seating and a long table that can be joined together to create a long communal table. The wallpaper is embossed with a beautiful pattern in fiery red. There was a notice about buffet breakfast that’s available on Sunday. The far end of the room is linked to the kitchen area.

We were given some complimentary bread and butter to start with, the crust was rather hard, chewy and wasn’t particularly great.  I was on the other hand so excited about their meat from the wood and coal fired grill. We ordered two of the 250g eye fillet, a 500g scotch fillet and two of the wagyu beef steak. The waiting time for our steak wasn’t long and my star of the night: 400+ grain-fed medium rare wagyu beef arrived safely onto my table, served with crunchy hand cut chips. The only feedback I received from the family was that they expected to see some green leaves as the side as well. Despite various negative reviews that we read, all of our steaks were cooked exactly according to what we ordered.

400+ grain-fed medium rare wagyu beef

I’d definitely recommend anyone who wants to eat a good steak to try the grain-fed wagyu because it was really tender and juicy, especially when it was cooked medium rare. Even the medium was still very enjoyable for me. One of the best sauces that gave the wow effect was the flavour of BWG’s classic béarnaise, which was the reason why Hubby placed his sauce in between my plate and his…

All of us had a very enjoyable evening and it was money well spent on a foolproof steak. I will come back to the BWG Steakhouse when the weather is fine so I can enjoy my steak while enjoying the picturesque Swan River’s view.
