Scoopon Deal: Ming's BBQ House

Finishing off a 7 course meal with just two people had proven to be quite a challenging mission to accomplish.  Andrew and I went to Ming’s BBQ House on a Saturday evening to utilise a Scoopon deal where we paid $45 for a 7 course Chinese dinner (from starter to dessert). When Andrew first saw the voucher, he said that photos of the dish looked quite small and we'd probably ended up with vacant space in our stomachs afterwards.

We arrived at Ming's around 7:30 PM and ordered our 7 course meal.

The soup was really enjoyable and a good starter to have. The sour and spicy soup has enough sourness to it, not too much. The entree of fish balls was a simple dish where they just fried the fish ball and coated it with salt & pepper. The salt & pepper squid that we ordered was the same version with fishball. They just replaced the main food item, we weren't sure why we ordered the similar dish (hahaha).

The stir fry broccoli with sambal sauce was quite good, this was my first time eating sambal sauce with broccoli. It tasted like any other vegetable dish mixed with blacan.

The black pepper beef was a letdown, we barely tasted peppery flavour in the dish. Andrew found some beef that weren't cooked. They probably trying to get all the main dishes came out at the same time.

The XO fried rice was a really good portion and we managed to top-up our bowls for a few times.

As for the dessert, I was surprised when I saw that the vanilla ice cream didn’t come with the much anticipated sweet rice dumpling. I enquired to one of the staff about it because the voucher and the menu said that it would be served with sweet rice dumpling. She said that they altered the dessert every day. It could be rice dumpling one day and something else the next day. I was a bit bummed about this.

The service was prompt and quick. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. We received $1.50 discount when we purchased drinks outside of the Scoopon deal. The premise itself was clean and well decorated. Nearby parking spot would be the Wilson Car Park near Flora & Fauna / Varsity Burgers.

There was nothing super special with the food, but the portion of each meal was quite good and the 7 course meals can feed 4 people easily. We tapau some dish to be consumed for breakfast (yay)!
