My First Time at Grouch & Co Micro Roaster
It was not until I arrived at the car service centre that I realised I didn’t have my trusted phone with me. I had a plan to go to Grouch & Co based on Pennae’s recommendations, especially since it was only a 2 minute walk from the car service. As I walked through the double wooden doors, I was welcomed with a cheery ‘good morning’ from the staff.
I decided to order Arancini stuffed with feta cheese for breakfast and a cup of flat white with soy. The coffee of the day was their seasonal blend 'Sparky' which was a mixture of choc, toffee, red apple and best when drink together with milk. When I walked around, I saw some cool barista aprons, varieties of coffee beans and ceramic tumblers in gunmetal colour. I went to grab a copy of Frankie magazine, sat at the long table decorated with a vase of baby breaths and received a complementary glass of sparkling water.
My coffee came in a beautiful handmade ceramic mug, so perfect to be hugged together with both hands and let the warmth of the coffee emanate. The arancini was yummy but the feta cheese was located right in the middle of it, so I halved and mixed everything in for maximum enjoyment.
The staff were friendly and I could see that they interacted well with customers. I decided to order a takeaway flat white and they remembered my name still. It was interesting to see how my coffee was prepared by the barista. A shot of coffee powder was weighted to the right quantity to ensure quality and perfection in every sip of coffee that I drink. They wrote a really informative blog entry about it here.
Now I can’t wait to have another car service as an excuse to sneak out to Grouch & Co and I will bring my phone along with me next time.
Update: I went back the next morning at 6:30AM to get some photos before the rush hour ;-)
